Diving into crazy events was not the first thing i thought was going to happen this week while i was reading. Was I wrong? Yes comletely because my reading this week started off going from problem to problem. This week I read about Skeeter and how she got accepted to answer the Miss Myrna and also her idea to start this new book. This book would eventually help all of the black women in the area and inspire them to take some risks just as everyone who participated in the writing of the book did. I also got to read about how it was when Aibileens best friend Minny got involved. Oh boy, wasn’t that a part to read haha!
The first event i want to address is the Miss Myrna columns. This experience made me feel content because this is a step towards skeeters dream job of being a writer. Several things went well during this time in the book because Skeeter got the job for starters! Another thing that went well was her responses because Aibileen helped her respond to the people. Something that was hard for Skeeter was the responses she had to make to the people for the Miss Myrna letters. Skeeter ended up having to ask Aibileen for help, because she was stuck and got them all answered so it worked itself out. I responded to this positively because this s a good event in the book. I learned that even if you have to start small you should because that’s when good outcomes come your way. The reason why this is so important is because it shows us that skeeter really wants to be a writer and that leads her to write this book.
The next event id like to bring up is the decision and process of writing this book. Skeeter decides to write this amazing book consisting a mix of stories from most of the black women in the community around her. This event made me feel a bit uneasy at first because everyone involved could get in big trouble for participating. Again luck was on their side when I say a lot of things went well. Skeeter,Aibileen, and Minny got most of the black women in their community to come share their stories. Nothing really went bad during this situation which was an upraising in itself. I am happy it all worked out in the end it was really touching. This matters because Skeeter was hoping this book would give black women a sense of urgency to stand up for themselves and what they know is right.
In conclusion, my book so far has been completely amazing and I love reading it. The author is using great transitions throughout the book and its really just a 10/10! This book is all about being altruistic throughout every page in some way and that is what i love most about it. This also is still in the lines of no matter how much you do for a person and how good you are to them cannot force them to be good to you and do nice things back. This whole book shows this by all of the black women getting basically stepped on and they still are some of the sweetest people out there.
